Originally from Boston and Cape Cod, Stremlau has lived on the coast of Maine as well as the Cape since 1970. Her acrylic paintings, watercolors, and unique books and panels depict scenes from Downeast Maine and the shores of Cape Cod.
Trained at the Art Student's League in New York, Lake Erie College, and The College of the Atlantic, she is a vital part of the Maine artistic community. She has exhibited her work in Maine and New York City and is a regular partipant of The Great Spruce Head Island residency.
When Marcia is not in her studio or walking the woods and beaches with her partner Peter Stremlau and their dogs, she can be found at their gallery on Flye Point in Brooklin, Maine.
In 2014, our opening year, the Flye Point Sculpture Garden & Art Gallery began showing works by sculptors Obadiah Buelle, Ray Carbone, Susan Chase, Eleonora Lecei and John Wilkinson, along with ceramic works by Linda Casbon, Rocky Mann, Meden Parker and Gail Savitz. Fine art and accordion books by Marcia Stremlau are on display in the gallery along with works of other Maine and Maine-inspired artists.
